Frequently asked questions

Will having my chimney cleaned make a mess in my house?

No!  Before I start the sweeping, I will lay clean sheets from the entrance to your house through to the fire or woodburner.  I’ll then “sheet up” the fire/burner, covering it so that no soot or dirtc comes out.   And all the time I’m sweeping, I’ll run a high power vacuum cleaner, fitted with a special high efficiency particulate filter, which will draw all of the dust and soot released into it.  You won’t see a speck of soot escape.

How long does a chimney sweeping take?

A standard chimney sweep takes about an hour in total.

What areas do you cover?

I'm available to sweep chimneys in the whole Tunbridge Wells area, including High Brooms, Rusthall, Speldhurst, Southborough, and out to Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Crowborough and surrounding areas.  If your area isn't listed here, it's well worth giving me a ring to ask.

What should I do to prepare for a visit from the chimney sweep?

Make sure the chimney is cool and there’s no hot ashes, so don’t have a fire that day, or the night before if it’s a morning visit.  It’s a good idea to remove ornaments etc from the mantelpiece and around the fire, so they don’t get knocked.  And don’t forget to have the kettle ready for a cup of tea!

Do you do weddings?

Only my own, mate.
